My Favorite Verse about Forgiveness

Acts 5:31

King James Version (KJV)
31Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Acts 13:38

King James Version (KJV)
38Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

Acts 26:18

Amplified Bible (AMP)
18To open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may thus receive forgiveness and release from their sins and a place and portion among those who are consecrated and purified by faith in Me.

Ephesians 1:7

Amplified Bible (AMP)
7In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor,

I was pondering or meditating on the lessons Christ and the seven sayings He made as He hung dying for my sins and the sins of the world. Here are the passages of scripture I am studying.
Luke 23:34Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. Even after the terrible beating and mocking, Jesus asked His Father to forgive them. Jesus offers forgiveness even to those who hurt Him and so should we!
Luke 23:39And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

41And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. Jesus gave Salvation while dying on the cross!

John 14:26When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Jesus showed love and concern for others as He hung on the cross!

Matthew 27:46And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Here we see the loneliness of Jesus as God His Father turned His face from Jesus as He bore our sins.

John 19:28After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. Here I believe we see the humanity of Christ, as He was human and God both!

John 19:30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. Here we see the work that Jesus was born to do completed, the work of offering a way of salvation for fallen mankind. He now was ready to go back into glory with His Father.

Luke 23:46And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. Here we see Jesus placing His spirit in His Fathers hands and when a follower of Christ dies our spirit goes to be with our Heavenly Father!

Back in the Day!

I am sitting here in front of my computer, wondering where the 70 years has quickly gone; it seems like just yesterday when my mum and dad would help me get dressed for Sunday school and walk that two miles to Burtt's Corner to that little Baptist Church on the hill for Sunday School. The Church was small and I was small but our hearts were filled with love and joy as we worshiped our big and awesome God. This brings to mind a song " these were the days my friend , I wish they would never end" but we must press on to the prize of our high calling to meet in Heaven and worship the King of Kings for eternity, o, what a day that will be. I thank my mum and dad for taking me to that little church so I could learn about and come to be a follower of Jesus! Yes those were the days and these are the days of worship to that same big and awesome God who will be my God forever!

Dark Shadows!
